Bill & Anita's 50th Anniversary Box

The Story

Bill and Anita are a tale of two countries ~ they met in British Columbia, Canada, on a lakeside beach. Their story includes some long-distance dating, a wedding among family and friends in England, and a lifetime of memories.

They celebrated the day with immediate family but thought it would be fun to mark the occasion with a box that would tell all their family and friends who weren't present fifty-some years ago about how it all began, and celebrate their lasting love.

The Box

Anniversaries by their very nature have a then-and-now aspect to them, and so we began with a look back at their meeting and story, with nods to their wedding and Anita's lifelong love of gardening which was a bit of a metaphor for their live that blossomed and grew.

The box itself included a picture of them just outside the church, with their names in script, on the outside... with "Fifty Years" on the front flap; and "Remembering how it all began..." on the front inside wall as you open the box.

Their box contents included:

• Story Card that featured their story in abbreviated form on one side, and pictures from their wedding and more recent, on the other side.

• English looseleaf tea in a decorative tin (assorted designs, all fun!) with tea strainer spoon ~ Honoring their wedding in England and Anita's British heritage, and noting that they still absolutely love a spot of tea

• Shortbread biscuits~ for the recipients to have something to nibble with their tea as they enjoyed their box and reminisced about Anita and Bill

• A variable photo element (one of either per box)

  • 5x7" canvas easel back print of a wedding photo ~ since this is not something many who know the couple currently would have, it was a special touch to bring this to the present.

  • Anytime Photo Ornament that featured two pics of the couple; one portrait in black and white on their wedding day, and one in color fifty years later. The years haven't changed the smiles! This was for boxes for people who do not see the couple often, so they had a recent pic as well as a wedding image.

• Seed packet of Forget-Me-Nots that called to mind both the bride's bouquet and the enduring nature of a long and lovely marriage, these seeds invited recipients to plant them and remember Bill & Anita with each blooming season

  
  

The Response

This was a case-study sample box, so recipients were Bill and Anita, and their daughter. There were joyous exclamations and stories told as they experienced their memories again in this delightful box.
